Derek was born in Malaysia, and moved to Australia as a teenager, where he completed his studies at Queensland University of Technology. Derek received positive feedback from clients for his attention to detail and patience in managing their legal matters, and for being able to explain complex legal concepts in an accessible manner. As a result of his multilingual upbringing, Derek speaks and understands English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay, and Indonesian.
Prior to starting with Cudmore Legal, Derek gained experience in a broad number of practice areas, including:

Derek has a variety of hobbies and interests he pursues during his time outside of the office. As a lifelong foodie and former restaurateur, he is particularly keen in accumulating knowledge about the history of food cultures, trying out new recipes and techniques in the kitchen, and checking out the most buzzing eateries in town!

The process of separation is a challenging and often turbulent period in people’s lives, especially for the children of a relationship. I am particularly interested in assisting people from non-English speaking backgrounds in resolving disputes of a highly personal nature with their former partners, by providing clarity and guidance.
